Vitamin D deficiency can cause hormone imbalance due to the fact that there is an abnormal release of parathyroid hormone which is required to regulate Calcium in the body.

There is a delicate balance however, since Vitamin D milk mostly has hormones known to raise estrogen making matters worse particularly for pre-menopausal women.

Sunlight and/or salmon seem to do a much better job of handling this deficiency as well as low dose supplement (400 IU) without the "side effect" of affecting estrogen levels.
